How to learn industrial design

To learn industrial design, you must complete formal study. The majority of Industrial Designers have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. In Queensland, study Industrial Design at Griffith University and QUT. Dienamics recommends that students completely internships with industry experts to gain real world experience.

Can a product design be copyrighted

Yes, applying for a copyright costs about $35 per work/product and can take approximately 6 weeks or less. For an added fee, you can apply for additional rights such as the right to file for statutory damages (you pre-designate how much your work is worth), which can be used later to increase the potential damages you might receive if another is found in court to have violated your copyright.

Tool Making

Product manufacturing starts with getting the right tools. And the right tools for manufacturing are those that can be automated, run fast and get the job done right every time. Instead of making your product by hand or paying someone else to make a small batch of expensive prototypes, you need to build a machine that will make them again and again without any drop in quality.

These machines go by different names depending on what industry you’re in, it could be a mould or tool, a press, a die or a jig. The common thread is they all make production easy, repeatable and fast.

Our team at Dienamics has over 30 years of toolmaking experience and it shows. We’ll be sweating over technical details because we know they’re important in the long run, where other designers and toolmakers may cut corners because it’s easier.

Mass Production

Mass production isn’t easy, you need a product that can scale to larger and larger volumes and you need to forecast ahead to make the right decisions now.

At Dienamics, we have a range of injection moulding machines and presses, so we can do small runs and get your product out quickly or we can schedule in a time and do a larger production run. As we are a family run business and not a huge corporation, we care about our customers and their needs on a personal level. Our schedule is flexible so we can meet your needs.

Assembly

We do in house assembly for a number of our clients.

This ranges from partial assembly of products which are then fully assembled on site, to individually tagging RFID codes to specific products. The more complex and time consuming the assembly, the more it will cost per unit, but with us you will save the shipping as we produce the parts in house. They can go straight from the injection moulding machine, into assembly and then into boxes from there.

Packaging

We have sourced and provided several different packages for people.

These have been varied in the past from providing unbranded boxes for shipping, to providing multicolour gloss printed boxes for individual units. Let us know your packaging requirements and we’ll give you a price to do it here in the factory.
